Half-Mile Head and Neck restraint Clarification
02.07.13: UPDATE AND CLARIFICATION
RE: Mandatory head and neck restraint device use in all racing divisions that compete on the Irwindale Speedway half-mile track.
As of the above date we are updating our track requirements to follow the 2013 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series rule book. At present he below-listed devices are the only ones listed as acceptable to NASCAR.
From the rulebook:
(3) The following are the SFI-approved Head and Neck Restraint Devices/Systems that are currently acceptable to NASCAR:
DEVICE MODEL OPTION
HANS Professional Series Fixed or Sliding Tethers
HANS Extra/Economy Series Fixed or Sliding Tethers
HANS Sport Series Fixed or Sliding Tethers
HANS Sport II Series Sliding Tethers
Simpson Hybrid Fixed Tethers
(formerly Hutchens)
Simpson Hybrid Pro, carbon Fixed Tethers
The Speedway will help any registered driver to purchase one of the above devices by offering a $50 discount/credit toward its purchase. Please contact the Speedway office for details. (626) 358-1100
We very seriously suggest that everyone competing on the third-mile track at Irwindale invest in their own safety by using one of the above head and shoulder devices as well.
THANK YOU!
