Irwindale K&N Pro Race Postscript: 04.12.15
“We really want to congratulate Bill McAnally and his entire BMR team for bringing us such a spectacular event this past weekend,” said Irwindale Event Center President, CEO Jim Cohan.
“His company’s promotion of the NASCAR K&N Pro Series NAPA 150 here at Irwindale with the strong support of Tim Huddleston’s High Point Distributing and Racing was just spectacular start to finish. With four action-packed support races and the NAPA 150, our fans were treated to 300+ laps of some of the most competitive and exciting racing ever. Bill and Tim and all their people worked overtime to put this event together and that really showed in the end result. We had a whole lot of very happy fans headed home on Saturday night all talking about the show that they saw here.”
The evening’s races were a great second night of Irwindale’s 2015 professional NASCAR season that opened a week ago on April 4. It set the tone for the new season which has fourteen more super Saturday nights of NASCAR action on tap as well as more than 30 Thursday nights of NHRA Street Legal Drag Racing scheduled right on through December.
Additionally there are over two dozen special events set, among them, hotVWs Drag Day, LA Racing Experience stock driving school days, the classic El Camino Motorcycle Show, fun karting on the IEC rental kart track, half a dozen Formula Drift practice nights, the annual Mooneyes Xmas Party, four more NHRA Summit Series championship Sunday drag races, four more fun “Nights of Destruction”, the final event of the Formula Drift national championship series in October, and the blindingly fast King of the Wing USAC winged sprint cars in November.
“After the NAPA 150 K&N Pro race Saturday night, Bill McAnally came over to me with a big smile on his face and said: ‘Jim …We’ve GOT to have TWO of these (races) a year!’ Of course I agreed with him,”
Saturday, April 11 at Irwindale was a typical night of classic, three-wide NASCAR racing that brought Darrell Waltrip’s comment from when he visited the facility a few years ago (“…The best short track racing I’ve ever seen”) very much back to mind. As noted above, there’s plenty more of that sort of excitement ahead in 2015 for Irwindale Event Center.
“Again, we want to thank Bill McAnally and Tim Huddleston for bringing the K&N Pros to Irwindale this year,” Cohan concluded.
“It was a real treat for all of our fans and for everyone on our staff. We’ll be back this Thursday night with NHRA drag racing, and our next exciting Saturday night of championship NASCAR racing on April 25. Thanks!”
